Successful completion of the event. In this event 18+ ideas were received and 8 have been offered virtual incubation with TBIC. An amount of 20K has also been disbursed to these 8 students which will be leveraged to build a prototype of their product.
This challenge was floated nationwide and a total of 236 ideas were received. Preliminary screening completed and now detailed plans are currently under screening and based on the estimates at least 30 will be offered virtual/physical incubation with TBIC.
TBIC has joined hands with Start Up India as their National Incubation Partner and is a part of their Star Up India Yatra. This partnership will provide a national recognition to SMVDU TBIC. In this Yatra, Ideas from multiple states (Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Hyderabad etc) will be screened by TBIC and suitable candidates will be invited to present their detailed Business Presentation. Based on the ideas and its feasibility, they will be offered Physical/Virtual Incubation with TBIC. Currently we have received 85 ideas from J&K state which are under screening. We have already offered virtual incubation to 6 of them as innovative ideas from the state.
Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra Dr. Sanjeev Jain chaired the 5th Governing meeting of SMVDU Technology Business incubation Centre held at SMVDU campus, Katra. The meeting was attended by members Addt. CEO Mr. Vivek Kumar, IAS; Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat, Joint Director J&K Science Technology & Innovation council Jammu/Srinagar; Prof V.K. Bhat, Registrar SMVDU; Mr. Romesh Singh, KAS, Finance Officer SMVDU; Dr. D Mukhopadyay, Dean FoE, FoM, Head School of Business, SMVDU; Dr. Ashutosh Vashishtha, Cordinator SMVDU TBIC; Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jha, Assoc. Dean R&D SMVDU and Dr. K.R. Jha, Head DoECE, SMVDU. The member secretary, CEO SMVDU-TBIC Dr. Swarkar Sharma and Manager SMVDU-TBIC Swati Sharma shared the agenda and made the presentation. The main agenda of the meeting was to take strategic decisions on fostering entrepreneurial environment in the state of J&K, discuss policy matters, appraisal and evaluation of various activities carried out by TBIC society and progress report presentation. Team TBIC highlighted that in last one-year SMVDU-TBIC has made exponential growth and carried out various successful events. The most prominent ones were various innovation challenges, Start Up India Yatra attracting more than 500 ideas for screening. Many of these are under consideration, some are in pre-incubation as virtual incubatees and others have already been shortlisted for prototype development. 14 of such innovative ideas have been converted as businesses and finally registered as companies with Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. Seven of these now have been recognised as Startups by Government of India and many of these have started to make their mark at National levels by winning various prestigious Government and Industrial awards. The members appreciated the efforts of SMVDU TBIC team that has been instrumental in encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in the state of J&K. Team further informed members that SMVDU-TBIC recently signed an MoU and joined StartUp India Yatra initiative of Government of India as National Incubator partner. As a part of Start Up India Yatra, TBIC team will be shortlisting ideas coming from various boot camps to be held in various state, providing mentor-ship and offering incubation to innovative ideas. Another programme â€śAmbassador of Changeâ€ť is being launched by the TBIC to increase the involvement from the state of J&K, specifically. In the meeting, strategies for sourcing of funds, technology development and transfer methodologies, Startup policy for faculty and staff was also discussed. Patent filing and facilitation was discussed in details as TBIC has always emphasized on the importance of IPs and have encouraged students to file patents. As a result, SMVDU has become the only University in the state that has filed more than 25 patents by faculty, staff and students which is expected to cross the number 40 by the year end. The committee members shared their valuable insights for overall performance improvement and various activities that can be executed to generate awareness in the state.
